After the
2007 season where the Arizona Diamondbacks went to the National League Championship Series for the second time in franchise history, they were looking to make the next step.
On March 31, 2008 the Diamondbacks would visit the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati OH.
For the third consecutive season right-handed pitcher Brandon Webb would take the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Opening Day line-up featured only two changes from the previous season.
Mark Reynolds was the new third baseman. First overall draft pick Justin Upton made his first Opening Day roster and line-up playing right field moving Eric Byrnes to left field.
For the fifth time in franchise history the Diamondbacks won their season opener. The final score Diamondbacks 4 - Reds 2 in front of 42,498.
