The 2023 season would be the first year in the Diamondbacks history where they played a balanced schedule. This meant that they would play the other 29 teams during the season The Diamondbacks made strides last season seeing the team finish fourth in the NL West. The Diamondbacks were able to win their final game to end the 2022 season and finished with a 74-88 record. For the 2023 season the team will again be managed by Torey Lovullo.

For the tenth season in their history, the Diamondbacks began the season on the road. For the sixth time (first time since 2019) the Diamondbacks would face the Los Angeles Dodgers to begin the season, this year they are playing at Dodger Stadium.

Right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen made his first Opening Day start with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Opening Day line-up featured eight changes from the previous season and seven players making their Opening Day debut for Arizona.

Ketel Marte made his sixth Opening Day start for the Diamondbacks playing second base for the second straight year. Christian Walker would make his sixth start as a Diamondback at first base. Nick Ahmed made his sixth start at shortstop but his first since 2020.

The new Opening Day starters were Corbin Carroll who started in center field for the first time for the Diamondbacks. Evan Longoria would get the start at third base, Jake McCarthy was the starter in right field, Lourdes Gurriel Jr patrolled left field, Gabriel Moreno got his first start behind the plate and Kyle Lewis made his first Opening Day start for the Diamondbacks as the designated hitter.

This year saw all restrictions of the COVID pandemic lifted as baseball season started. The Diamondbacks struggled badly last season that saw the team finish last in the NL West. The Diamondbacks were able to win two of their final three games to end the 2021 season but finished with a 52-110 record. For the 2022 season the team will again be managed by Torey Lovullo.

For the third straight season the Diamondbacks met the San Diego Padres to begin the season, this time at Chase Field.

Left-handed pitcher Madison Bumgarner made his third Opening Day start with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Opening Day line-up featured five changes from the previous season and one position change.

David Peralta would get his sixth Opening Day start this year again at Left Field. Ketel Marte made his fifth Opening Day start for the Diamondbacks this year playing second base after being the team's center fielder last season. Christian Walker would make his fourth start as a Diamondback this season at first base. Pavin Smith made his second start for the Diamondbacks playing right field. Carson Kelly made his second start as the Diamondbacks catcher and his first opening day start since 2019.

The new Opening Day starters were Daulton Varsho who started in center field for the first time for the Diamondbacks. Drew Ellis would get the start at third base, Geraldo Perdomo was the starting shortstop and Seth Beer would make his first Opening Day start as the first designated hitter at Chase Field for a regular season game.

The Diamondbacks struggled mightily in the pandemic shortened 60-game season that saw the team finish in the basement of the NL West. The Diamondbacks were able to win six of their final seven games to end the 2020 season but finished with a 25-35 record. For the 2021 season the team will again be managed by Torey Lovullo.

For the second straight season the Diamondbacks travelled to San Diego to meet the San Diego Padres at Petco Field to begin the season. It is the first time since 2005-2006 that they have faced the same opponent on Opening Day.

The Diamondbacks saw a modest uptick from the previous year and looked like they might be ready to be a post season contender going forward. With a five game winning streak to end the 2019 season the team ended with a 85-77 record. For the fourth season the team would be managed by Torey Lovullo.

After a lengthy hiatos due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an abbreviated schedule was devised. On July 24, 2020 the Diamondbacks travelled to San Diego to meet the San Diego Padres at Petco Field in San Diego CA.
